Browsing snapshots in OS X Finder
Added by churnd . about 1 year ago
I'm looking for a way to make ZFS snapshots browsable in OS X's Finder via CIFS without setting the .zfs directory to be visible, because I don't want the directory showing up for Windows users. I can connect to the share from the OS X client fine & if I click Finder, Go, Go to Folder, & type ".zfs", it will let me in initially, but it seems to shortly thereafter (1-5 seconds) kick me out back to the share root directory. Is there some reason for this? Any way I can accomplish this?

This works fine in 10.6.8.

What about 10.7.*?

Works fine in 10.7.3. When I first went to the .zfs folder, I navigated to 'shares' and it bounced me back out. I can navigate fully once I go back in, so it may just be a bug.

Don't you need to adjust the settings for seeing hidden files on the mac client?

If you use "Go to Folder" it will navigate there even though my NexentaStor settings are set to have .zfs hidden.
