Concern over post being deleted! Post 7061 - Nexenta not supported by VMware

Added by Ashley Watson 11 months ago

hi Nexenta,

Please can you explain why post; http://www.nexentastor.org/boards/1/topics/7061

was deleted? There was an interesting discussion taking place around VMware support of Nexenta.

It concerns me that Nexenta would interfere with postings and it undermines the community - and to me again raises concerns about the maturity of the Nexenta product.

cheers Ashley

Then shouldn't the individual posts containing the name calling have been edited / removed indicating why. Leaving the thread intact, so that the discussion could continue, and others could read it?

Well, the only thing that could be constituted as name calling was my reference of "Uncle Larry" to make fun of Larry Ellison's decision to close source Solaris. It was more of a crude humor rather than name calling. After all, it was Nexenta who put a fork up Oracle's rear end, it is sad that the upper management didn't appreciate the joke.

Linda, to be honest, I am rather disappointed. As I pointed out in my private email to you, the problem with Nexenta isn't management, but rather "durable" competitive advantage. Lately, the problem is increasingly the lack of ethics part.

Yes, it may have been a mistake on my part. I just had 4 of my posts on other forums pulled this week..

I do want us to focus on technical discussions.

Hello Linda,

as already discussed a while ago technical issues do no exist in an isolated state. They are connected to product, support and architectural decisions as well. When known bugs are not fixed for two years it is legitimate to raise that issue as well as issues that are due to corporate culture, whether you like it or not. If this is a general problem for Nexenta we can easily fork a community forum to discuss this somewhere else. We take the liberty to exchange impressions, experience and concerns as well and you should see the positive aspects of it.

Regards, Gernot
