NDMP with NetBackup 6.5
Added by Jan Müller over 2 years ago
Hi,
I've got a problem. I wanna backup my Nexenta with NDMP and NetBackup 6.5. Now I started a virtual test Windows Server with NetBackup 6.5 and a virtual NexentaStor (both with vmWare). So far, this isn't really hard work. But now comes the problem:
I can add the NexentaStor under Credentials->NDMP User. The connections seems okay. But I can't go any further.
Problems:
I can't add a roboter (there isn't any one, i know, but i think there must be an option, to save on a disk).
when I add the virtual Nexenta as a (NDMP)-Host, they can't communicate.
Has anyone here any experience with Nexenta and NetBackup 6.5? Would be great.
Thanks, Jan

Huh, ten+ years working with IT, storage, and backup products, and I'd never even heard of Symantec NetBackup.
out of interest, what are you trying to backup from the machine? a CIFS share? NFS?
if you're trying to backup the VMDK's on an ISCSI share, best of luck to you. Vmware licenses that, so it's unlikely you'll find a competing solution.

I wanna backup the whole storage behind the NexentaStor. Are there differents, if i'm using a nfs-, cifsshare, or a iscsi target? I thought, for NDMP it would be the same...
I don't think it's a VMware problem. I can't even connect to the server. The NDMP Creditionals works fine with the user, etc. But I'm not able to go any further.
