Unable to destroy a snapshot
Added by Tony Mayse over 2 years ago
I have a box with a ZFS volume with two file systems under it. At one point I made a snapshot of one of the filesystems, but have been unable to destroy that snapshot since. I'm running NMS 3.0.2-1. I'm doing upgrade now in hopes that might make a difference. Save that upgrade I've tried several things with the same result. I've tried twice to destroy it from the web GUI by checking it and selecting delete. Both times the system became unresponsive after. The first time I was impatient, the second I let it run quite a long time. So then I tried from the command line by logging in as admin & suing to root. I issued a zfs destroy data/customer@b4FSCK command only to have it become unresponsive. I did this a couple of times too. Today, I logged in & sued to root where I took the system to init 1 and tried to destroy the snapshot. I let it run for about 5 hours. The only response I could get from the system was a ^C when I hit ctrl-C from the console; I had to hard boot the system (as in the past). I really don't have enough space to move all the data off this filesystem and recreate it so I really need to get this done.
Anyone have any insight?
(oh and the upgrade completed... can't even ping my own IP address from the console now... hopefully I can revert )

UPDATE:
the network issue was a cable problem so that's resolved
when I booted to a previous snapshot, my data volume showed every drive with corrupted data and it was offline
I booted to the update & the network & data are back (huge sigh of relief), however, a zfs destroy still locks the machine.
