LSI 9211-8i and 36 disk enclosure
Added by John Angelmo about 1 year ago
Hello
I am using two LSI 9211-8i and 36 disk enclosure, but for some reason I can only see 24 disks when using all three cables to the enclosure. There are three connections on the backplane and with all of them connected we can only see the first 24 disks. This is the chassi we are using: http://www.supermicro.com/products/chassis/4U/847/SC847A-R1400LP.cfm

Try this;
Take out all the drives, boot the server into the lsi controller bios, put one drive in at the time (takes the controller 5-7 secs to refresh to find each new drive). Come back with results.

Tested in 0,5,8,14,17,19,23 All OK
As soon as I tested on any of the ports on the back (8 tested) it blinked when I inserted a disk (sas) but nothing shows up in the controller bios. I am using the lastest bios and IT-firmware for the controller.

I am thinking, I got three connectors to the front, but I can't see any cable going to the back, could it be that my supplier missed to connect an iPass-cable to the back of the chassi?

Found it, supplier had not connected the back-back-plane...
