Syba PEX-40008 attached disks+HBA not showing in Settings\Disks
Added by Jon B about 1 year ago
Hi all,
Super newbie here, just learned about Nexenta recently. I'm running 3.1.1-6829 in an ESXi 5.0U1 environment. I'm giving the NexentaStor VM direct access to a Syba PEX-40008 via passthrough (IOMMU on a Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3). I've confirmed that if I assign the hba to a Windows machine the disks show up... but I'm lost when it comes to Nexenta.
I've gotten as far as Settings > Disks > Refresh... > Rescan all HBAs and refresh device links
or from the console typing SHOW ALL and noticing the last line is this...
03:00.0 SATA controller: Silicon Image, Inc. SiI 3124 PCI-X Serial ATA Controller (rev 02)
From here I don't have the slightest but I'm hitting the docs to see if I can find any clues. I figured I'd post to the 'newbie' forum while I'm digging.
Edit at 07:06 6/2/2012:
I saw this recent post below
"f you login as root to nexentastor, can you see if format sees the drive?
"#format"
If it doesn't you can run
"#devfsadm -C""
Neither of the two commands return anything. When I type "#format" or "#devfsadm -C" all I get is a blank line.

Didn't realize I had to be in !bash to issue the format command. That being said, drives are still not showing, but the HBA shows under show all. I also updated to 3.1.3 last night, so I am on the most current version.
