Just starting 4 bay Intel R1304BTLSHBNNA

Added by Mathew Hunter about 1 year ago

I just ordered the following to test out with Nexentastor communitry edition and will update with the results once it's all done:

Intel barebones server R1304BTLSHBNNA Intel Xeon 1220 4x4GB Kingston KVR1333D3E9S (ECC unbuffered)

Edited 2x8GB Evergreen Slim SATA (for OS) /Edited 4x1TB Seagate Constellation ST31000524NS Enterprise Sata Drives

The goal of this unit is to provide a backup appliance for a long term file archive that sits on a production SAN. As a result read/write performance isn't as crucial so I've neglected to put in cache drives etc.
I'll post some pics of the inside and how the slim Sata cards are mounted after.

Interesting on the mSATA choice. I am interested on how those connect and are mounted. Are you using all onboard sata headers or a sas card?

I'm using the stock hot swappable drive bays from the barebones so no SAS card. (on a budget!)

the mSATA was more cost effective than going with a horizontal Sata DOM, and it still will fit in the chassis. I'm just waiting for them to arrive and the ram and then I'll throw it all together.

wow I just realized I clicked on the wrong one. I meant Sata Slim!

I was able to swap my order in time (phew). that should clear it up (just mount and run sata cables) a bit too much late night small form factor sata reading :).

thanks for the comment Jeff.
